A company has been formed for the purpose of building and maintaining a new switchboard and central office in Mount Ayr. George D. Moffatt was selected as president and A. L. Stephens as secretary. The shares were placed at $10 each and limited to five shares to any one person.

A large number of men interested in the welfare of Mount Ayr met recently to re-organize the Commercial club. Officers elected are R. C. Smith, president; G. A. Slentz, vice-president; R. S. Beall, secretary and C. R. Keating, treasurer. Named to the membership committee are A. A. Ingram, Dr. M. F. Hannelly, H.D. Price, Sam Spurrier, Bert Teale and H. H. Wilson. The membership fee was fixed at 50 cents.

Lawrence Goforth, of St. Joseph, MO., has accepted a position in the D. D. Dolecheck general store. Rolla Bonebrake, who has been clerk in Mr. Dolecheck's sotre for several years, resigned his position.

O. C. House, of Tingley, has accepted a position as bookkeeper for Charles Teale in his implement house on the southeast corner of the square and Mr. and Mrs. House have moved to Mount Ayr.

The music department of the Village Improvement Society announces that Prof. Pal N. Craig, teacher of voice in Graceland college, will put on the grand opera, "Pinafore," May 5, in the Princess Theatre. There will be 30 people in the cast.

Esther Luce, talented young violinist, recently closed a contract with the Morgan Chautauqua System of Chicago for two years' service on the chautauqua and lyceum platform. Miss Luce will be a member of teh Morrison Company, consisting of two ladies and one gentleman.

J. N. Lineburg, faithful and efficient agent at the local express office, tendered his resignation last week due to ill health. H. A. Gates, of Davis City, has been placed in charge of the office.

DIAGONAL - Nola Ostrander leaves today (Monday) for Osceola, where she has accepted a position as head dry goods clerk in a store at that place.
