W.B. BUELL, a veteran Mount Ayr barber with 43 years' experience, has four grandsons, all of whom have graduated from
barber schools and are well established in business or serving apprenticeships. Those grandsons are Ronnie SMITH, owner
of a shop in Independence; Bob SMITH, who has had five and one-half years' experience and is assiciated with Bob EVANS
in Bob's Barbershop in Mount Ayr; Donnie SMITH, who recently finished his schooling in Waterloo; and Gary BUELL, who is
serving his apprenticeship in Lamoni.
Mrs. Gerold WILLEY, newly elected president of the Mount Ayr Parent-Teacher Association, assumed the duties of her office
during the organization's initial meeting of the school year held Wednesday night of last week. Approximately 200 persons
were in attendance. Mrs. WILLEY succeeds Mrs. Donald DAILEY, who capably served in that capacity during the past years, and
to whom she presented the past president's pin.
The residence property of the late C.M. and Lena ANDERSON, located one block south and two blocks west of the southwest
corner of the square in Mount Ayr, waas sold Friday at public auction to Clem and Bernice SHEIL for $3,800. The sale was
conducted by Fra ROE, administratrix; Grant L. HAYES, attorney, and Jack and Raymond HUTCHINSON, auctioneers.
The Mount Ayr Community High School Raiders marching band will perform in the homecoming parade of the Northwest Missouri
State College at Maryville, Mo on October 26. Lora BARKER, drum majorette, will lead the 85-member band through the
two and one-half mile parade route.
Mrs. Will WARRICK and Mrs. Junior SHIELDS, teachers in the Mount Ayr Community school district, and Mrs. Edith HAMMANS of
Lorimor, instructor in the East Union Community school district, were injured Friday morning in two separate auto accidents.
the first accident happened on Highway 92 near Patterson as the ladies were en route to Des Moines to attend sessions of
the annual convention of the Iowa State Education Association. An ambulance was summoned to take Mrs. WARRICk and Mrs. SHIELDS
to the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. After it had traveled only a quarter of a mile from the scene of the
accident, a car driven by Mrs. HAMMAN crashed into th side of the ambulance.
