Residents of Diagonal and vicinity were dismayed Thursday morning to read in the Diagonal Reporter that its editor and publisher, Harold Turnbull, had suspended publication of the weekly newspaper that had been his life for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Doris Baker was re-elected chairman of the YMCA board for Mount Ayr Community school district at a meeting held at the Mount Ayr school.
Mrs. Pearle Fowler, for the second time in her long career as being the holder of Ringgold county car license No. 1, failed to get the coveted numeral Monday morning, when the reservations line formed at the office of county treasurer, Mrs. Ada Rogers. Instead of No. 1, Mrs. Fowler will have to go along as No. 3 like the well-known car rental agency. Wearing No. 1 on his car for the coming license year will be Richard Richardson whose father-in-law, Elmer Starmer, got the number one license for him.
A majority of MACHS students and teachers agree with the policies of the present administration concerning the Vietnamese War. This conclusion was arrived at following tabulation of the results of a poll conducted by Linda Worthington and Kathy Burright in conjunction with the American Problems class under direction of Mr. Philip Burmeister.
