Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

Col. Glenn R. Bowles, Iowa director for Selective Service, met this week with Ray Grout and Albert Allen, members of the Ringgold county board, to discusss student status and re-valuation of some IY registrants. Doyle Hunter recently tendered his resignation as a member of the local board, and, to date, a replacement has not been appointed.

Ayliner Food Mart, Inc., with headquarters in Mount Ayr, announces plans for the construction of a second store, which will be located at Princeton, MO. Tentative plans provide for the store to be open for business on or about the first of July. The Mount Ayr store was opened for business in November, 1965.

Phyllis Shields and Ed Shields, who represented the Mount Ayr Community High School in the state speech contest held Saturday in Atlantic, received ratings of I and III.

Next year's potential FFA officers are busy filling out applications, and during their next regular meeting, new officers will be elected.

Mr. Haptmann (sic, should be Hauptmann) gave a short talk on the opportunity to farm a two-acre plot with machinery and seed furnished and the membership gave its unanimous support.
