At a recent meeting of the board of education of the Independent School District of Mount Ayr, the resignation
of John SHEIL, science instructor in the local high school for the past two and one-half years, was accepted.
Mr. SHEIL and his family, who have been residing in Maloy, will move to Maryville, MO where June 1 he will become
owner-manager of the Economy Market on East First Street.
Eighth grade graduation exercises for a class of three girls and one boy - Patsy ALLEN, Marcia NOLAN, Carolyn
PRITCHARD and Floyd BOLINGER - were held last Wednesday night at Delphos.
Dean CRECELIUS of Kellerton was named commanding officer of the newly organized Lamoni squadron of the Civil Air
Patrol, an auxiliary of the United States Air Force.
Hugh FERGUSON, who graduated May 1 from the Tingley high school, shared honors with John BARBOUR of Tabor in
establishing a new Class C state pole vault record of 11 feet, eight and three-fourths inches at the outdoor meet
held Saturday in Des Moines. The new mark is four and three-fourths inches above the record set in 1955. FERGUSON
won first last year at the state meet at Ames with a vault of 11 feet.
