Kathy PRENTIS was elected Worthy Advisor of Mount Ayr Assembly No. 160, Order of The Rainbow for Girls. Miss
PRENTIS is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard PRENTIS of this city, the former of whom will serve as Rainbow Dad
during her term of office.
Alice ROGERS of this city has been contracted by the board of education of the Mount Ayr Community school district as
reading and English instructor of grades six, seven and eight in the Tingley Center, which duties she assumed Monday.
Mrs. ROGERS was elected to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mrs. Dick BOLTON. Another new instructor in the
district is Franklin RIESKE of Lamoni, who will teach algebra and general mathematics in the local high school during
the second semester. The vacancy was caused by the sudden death January 11 of Roy MULLENAX, an instructor in the
high school since 1957.
Ronald SHIELDS of Tingley has been selected to attend the 13th annual Grain Marketing Clinic and Tour to be held
January 28-30 in Chicago, IL. Ronald, 22-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell SHIELDS of Tingley has been actively
identified with 4-H club work for a period of 11 years and is now serving as an assistant 4-H leader. He is a graduate
of the Mount Ayr Community high school, attended junior college for one semester and is presently engaged in farming.
Max ANDERSON presided at the regular dinner meeting of the Mount Ayr Businessmen's Club held Thursday night in the
Legion hall. Mr. ANDERSON is the third businessman to assume the duties of president of the organization in the past
six months. He succeeds Eben JONES, former manager of the Skelly station, moved January 1 to Hamilton, MO. Prior to
Mr. JONES' tenure of office, Art SCHMIDT served as president until he moved in July to Moorhead, MN.
