John ALLEN of rural Tingley was recently hired as Rideta Electric's new director of member services. ALLEN
will [have an] office at the Mount Ayr facility. The position was made available after the resignation of Mike
ALLEY who accepted employment in Colorado.
Athena SIMPSON has accepted the position of county extension education director for Ringgold county. She began her
duties on Feb. 15.
Two Mount Ayr Community Raider wrestlers, sophomore Jamie KING and senior Jacobs KNIGHT, qualified for the
state wrestling tournament by finishing in the finals at the Class 1A district tournament.
Darwin COLE, who has moved here from Roland, began Feb. 6 as a feed salesman at Farmers Co-op of Mount Ayr. he has
been assigned to Ringgold county. he and his wife, Karen, Nathan, 23 in seventh grade, Matthew, nine in third grade,
and Sarah, 17 months, live on an acreage east of Mount Ayr.
A former rural Mount Ayr resident, Lucille FARIS DEEMER, now of Davis City, was honored recently by Governor Terry
E. Branstad with the Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame award. DEEMER, who is from Decatur county, was among the 32 outstanding
county volunteers selected for this recognition. The awards are designated to honor individuals who make unique
contributions to their communities through volunteer service.
