Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

A one-week, all-expense-paid trip to Acapulco, Mexico has been won by Donald DAILEY, co-owner of the Mount Ayr Furniture Store, and his wife, Geraldine. Donor of the trip, the expenses of which will amount to approximately $1,200, is the Life Investors Insurance Company of Iowa, of which Mr. DAILEY is a stockholder.

Bidding was lively at the Methodist Church's God's Portion Sale held Monday night in Mount Ayr, proceeds from which netted $1,239.46, according to Barton TURNER, general chairman of the event. Some of the "hot" selling items included a pint of gooseberries at $6.00; a small sack of nut meats for $4.25; a loaf of bread at $4.00, and a dozen eggs at $3.25. One cake, sold several times, brought $51.50.

E. E. CARR of this city is a new director of the Southwest Iowa Hereford Association, having been elected to that position during the annual meeting of the association held last week in Corning.

W. B. CUNNING of Mount Ayr has accepted the appointment as Ringgold county advisor for the Iowa Children's Home Society, a statewide, non-sectarian child care organization.

At special elections, held simultaneously on November 17, at Delphos and Maloy, voters favored the granting of 35-year franchises to the Iowa State Telephone Corporation. Maloy voters unanimously approved the proposition by a vote of 19 to 0, while at Delphos, the official count was 21 to 1.

Certificates for five years of service as chairmen of cancer fund-raising campaigns were awarded to Mrs. Lawrence SWANK, Mrs. J. D. WARIN, Mrs. Lawrence MINNICK, Mrs. Kenneth MORROW, Mrs. Clair WOOLLUMS, Mrs. Roy LARSON and Royce DAVIS. The presentations were made by Mrs. Doyle ANDREW, county chairman, who received a framed certificate for 10 years of service.

The Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company announces the appointment of Harold R. WEBB of Mount Ayr as supervisor of agents in southeastern Iowa. He assumed his duties November 15. Mr. WEBB has served the company as agent and adjuster since 1956. Mr. and Mrs. WEBB and two children, Phil and Diana, will continue to make their home in Mount Ayr.

Dale WALTERS of Beaconsfield, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris WALTERS, was selected as winner of the top 4-H agricultural record book and Marie ANGUS of Mount Ayr, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd ANGUS, placed third with her home economics record book during the KSIB record book award program held Saturday in Creston.
