A new apartment project for Mount Ayr, Manor Apartments, is in the engineering stage with construction planned for the
near future. Architect's plans show a total of 24 apartments in six units, plus a community center for a laundromat and
community gatherings. The Farmers Home Administration (FmHA) will finance the project.
Three grass fires over the weekend have pointed to the danger of it being so dry. Fire chief Bob SICKELS has
cautioned people in the area to be careful with fires. He says that grass is dry because of little snow and a
fire spreads easily.
