The two-story, nine-room farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Fared LEWIS, five miles north and one-half mile west of Ellston, and all
its furnishings were completely destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon. The fire, which started about 2:30 o'clock
around a deep freeze, was discovered by a grandson, who was home with the mumps. Mr. and Mrs. LEWIS were in Creston at
the time. A schoolhouse on the farm is being prepared as living quarters for the LEWISES, who are the parents of Mrs. H. K.
LORIMOR Of Mount Ayr.
The William H. and Mary E. WILSON 240-acre farm, three miles east of Wishard Chapel, was sold Friday at public auction to
Earl ROUDYBUSH of Kellerton, for $75 per acre. The sale was conducted by the Carl G. Riggs Land Auction Company of
Tingley. Auctioneers were Dennis OWENS and Jack and Raymond HUTCHINSON.
The Mount Ayr residence property of Elizabeth C. LYNCH and Welba D. BUTLER, 400 South Taylor Street, was sold Saturday
afternoon at public auction to William and Inez BURCHETT, occupants of the property, for $2,675. The auctioneers were
Dennis OWENS and Jack and Raymond HUTCHINSON and Mr. and Mrs. Kermit MILLER served as clerks.
Three teenage brothers were injured Saturday night about 10:30 p.m.in a one-car accident, which happened with in the city
limits of Diagonal. They were Earl Lee CORNELISON, 17; Willis CORNELISON, 15, and Harold CORNELISON, 14, sons of
Mr. and Mrs. Orville CORNELISON of Diagonal. The youths were brought to the RInggold County Hospital for treatment
of their injuries. Earl Lee was treated for a broken nose and released. Harold was released Monday after being treated
for arm cuts and shock. Willis was released yesterday from the hospital, where he was treated for cuts, bruises and
shock.
Five members of the Mount Ayr Raiders 1963 championship football team are among the players selected on the Tall Corn
All-Conference first team. They are Don GEPNER, junior, end; Rick FARRELL, senior, tackle; Dave STILL, senior, back;
Rick DEFENBAUGH, senior, back; and Eugene RICKER, senior, back. This is the second year for RICKER as a member
of the first team. Dale STEPHENS and Joe BROWN, senior guard, have berths on the second team. Raiders on honorable
mention list are Alvin SICKELS, Jon THOMPSON, Ed PINE, Jim WORTHINGTON, Ronnie WOOD, Gale MILLER, Jerry KNIGHT and
Duane MILLER.
