A question has been raised by the board of supervisors and county auditor Albert DRAKE as to the validity of the candidacies
of two men from the same township seeking nominations for the board of supervisors at the primary election. The two candidates involved
are Thomas CANNY and Maurice HANSON, both of Grant township. CANNY seeks the Democrat nomination, 1961 term, and HANSON
is a candidate for the Republican nomination, 1962 term. The question was submitted to county attorney Grant L. HAYES,
who ruled that both are eligible to run. In the event both candidates are numinated and elected in November, the
candidate with the higher number of votes will be elcted and the term of the other candidate will be declared vacant. The
vacancy would be filled by appointment by the county auditor, clerk of the district court and the recorder.
