An election for an instructional levy in the Grand Valley school district is being planned. The money, however,
would be used to help with the expense for the district for the two years while the district plans for dissolution, not
to keep the district going past that time. That was the decision of the Grand Valley school board at its meeting
Wednesday, June 12.
Ringgold County attorney-appointee, Clinton SPURRIER, is "settling in" to the courthouse scene after a whirlwind
courtship with officials who were seeking a replacement for the late Arlen HUGHES, who died very suddenly on
January 15. SPURRIER is a Clearfield native, who graduated from high school there in 1981. He is the son of
Mary Ellen SPURRIER and the late Richard SPURRIER, who died last October after being associated with the Spurrier
Service Station and Spurrier Oil Co. for many years. He and his family, wife Kris, sons, Jakob, nine; Caleb, seven
and daughter Jazmine, seven months, had considered getting back into the area closer to family after his father's
death.
