After 26 years of service to Ringgold county, Velda PIERSON stepped down as an income maintenance worker II from the
Ringgold County Human Services office.
Mount Ayr will soon have a new option for people who need some care but do not need the full serives of a
nursing facility. Construction is planned to begin in April on a 12-unit assisted living addition to Clearview
Home in Mount Ayr. Joe ROUTH, administrator of Clearview Homes, has announced.
Five division I ratings were picked up at the state individual speech contest in Des Moines Friday and Saturday by
speech contest participants from county high schools. Amy HYNEK received straight I's for her radio news presentation
and for her improvisational acting presentation. Joel JENNINGS received division I ratings from all judges for his
public address entry where he presented Ralph Waldo EMERSON'S "Duties of the American Scholar." Two other students
received division I ratings with one of the judges giving them a II rating. They included Sean KILGORE for his
spontaneous speaking entry and Abby STEPHENS for her radio news entry. HYNEK, JENNINGS and KILGORE are Mount Ayr
Community high school speech students, and Abby STEPHENS is a student at Diagonal Community high school. Mike
REYNOLDS is the MACHS speech coach and Shaun KNIEP is the Diagonal speech coach.
