Two new administrators have been offered contracts pending official approval by the Mount Ayr Community school board.
Darrell BARTLING, principal in the Creston school district, will be taking over the responsibilities as Mount Ayr
Community secondary principal in the fall. Rob OLSEN, a 1994 University of Northern Iowa graduate, will be taking over
the assistant elementary principal responsibilities for the coming year.
Major awards were presented when the Mount Ayr Community FFA chapter held its annual awards banquet Monday night. Some of the
top awards went to Matt GILLILAND, Richard FARIS, Kyle RICHARDSON, Amber TAYLOR, Adam TRIGGS and Jacque BAKER.
Kylene STAMPS and Andrea BENTLEY have been given the opportunity to travel to Ireland this summer and represent Diagonal
on Southwest Iowa All-Star basketball teams. Kylene is the daughter of Steven and Becky STAMPS and Andrea is the
daughter of Alan and Shelly BENTLEY, all of Diagonal.
Residents of the Mount Ayr Community school district will go to the polls Tuesday, April 11, to vote on approval for the 67-cents PPEL
levy for three years to help with work at the Mount Ayr Community elementary school. The $244,700 to be raised by the levy
would be part of the $700,000 plan to replace the 20-year old heating and cooling system at the elementary school and
add three more classrooms to the building.
