A new exercise course will be part ofthe fitness trail in Judge LEWIS Park with the help of the South Central
Consortium Alternative Learning Center students. Students at the center have designed nine exercise stations and
the signs for the individual stations which will be placed along the trail.
Mount Ayr Community Raider marching band had a big weekend, playing at the Bondurant-Farrar football game in
Bondurant, spending the night in Des Moines and then receiving a divison I rating Saturday at the state marching
band contest at Lincoln high school in Des Moines. The marching band received the highest rating it has
ever received at state marching band contest Saturday. The band received one perfect ballot and a
division I rating from each of the judges. According to director Greg STORHOFF, the judges complimented the
band on almost ever facet of its performance from music to marching to the flag performance.
The grandson and great-grandson of Ringgold county residents achieved the rank of Eagle in Boy Scouts of
America in his troop in Saint Peters, MO. Adam L. SICKELS, the son of David and Teresa SICKELS of Saint Peters,
MO, received his award at a ceremony in August. he is the grandson of Myron and Shirley INGRAM of Kellerton and
Gene and Barb SICKELS of Kellerton. His is the great-grandson of Maxine SICKELS of Mount Ayr and the step-great-grandson
of Bonnie RICHARDSON of Eagleville, Mo.
A total of 13 members of the Mount Ayr Community high school FFA chapter will be attending the national convention
in Louisville KY this year. Three members of the chapter will receive their American farmer degrees -- the most
recipients every in one year. Set to receive the awards are Reggie DERSCHEID, Tim CREVELING and John TIDMAN.
Chapter advisor Jack COOK will be accompanying the students to the convention.
Six Mount Ayr Community high school students will be participating in try-outs for all-state music groups at Atlantic
Saturday. Vocal students trying out for state include the duet of Kelsey ALLEN, soprano, and Drew INGRAM, tenor; and,
the duet of Ashely INGRAM, soprano and Vanessa STORHOFF, alto. Trying out for the band or orchestra will be Clara
TERRELL, oboe, and Landi McFARLAND, tenor saxophone.
