Lowell AUSTIN, of Mount Ayr, has been awarded a Forney Foundation Scholarship to attend Iowa State College, Ames, this fall. The scholarship, which was presented to Lowell in recognition of his outstanding work in the Future Farmers of American and 4-H, will pay him a sum of $250 during his freshman year at Iowa State, where he plans to enroll for a course in agricultural engineering. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam AUSTIN, of Middle Fork township, Lowell is a graduate this year from the Mount Ayr high school.

Jerry Lee GALBRAITH, 15 years of age, and a sophomore in the Mount Ayr high school, was fatally injured Sunday afternoon about 3:30 p.m. in a tractor accident one-half mile southeast of Delphos.

The accident happened as the youth was returning on the tractor, an Oliver 88, to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde GALBRAITH, from the Bob ROACH home, where he had taken a younger sister, Linda, to play. He was driving west on the county road and as he turned north at the corner a rear wheel went off a bank and the tractor upset. John D. HERREN, of Kellerton, who drove by a little later, saw the overturned tractor and upon investigation found the injured youth. He was brought by Mr. HERREN to the Ringgold County Hospital, where he died a few minutes later.

Six boys will represent three Ringgold county high schools in the state high school class B and C track meet Saturday in Ames.
