Leonard Brown, manager of the P. M. Place Company store in Mount Ayr for the last three years, has been promoted to the position of manager of the company's store in Centerville, which studies he assumed Monday.
Susan Campbell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Campbell of Mount Ayr, announced her marriage to Gerald Lee Schaefer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Schaefer of Ellston.
Stock car races will be held in Mount Ayr during the summer months. The decision to resume the races was made at a meeting of many members of the Jalopy Club.
Vickie Virden, of the Grand Valley Community High School, won the 880-yard run in the state girls' Federation Track Meet Saturday in Des Moines. Miss Virden, a senior, won in the time of 2:41.6 and set a new
state indoor record. The previous mark of 2:44.8 was set last year.
Leola Minnick and Gay Nichols, guards, and Alice Minnick, forward, of the Raiderettes basketball team, received berths on the Tall Corn All-Conference first team, members of which were selected recently by loop coaches.
