Many activities drew people to celebrate summer fun in Kellerton Saturday and over $2,500 was raised to
community betterment projects during the day.
Bobbie Hunt of Diagonal, daughter of Lois Hunt, was named the 1989 District 18 Cattlemen's Queen at the competition
held in Afton July 30. Hunt, who is the 1909 Ringgold County Beef Queen, will compete for the state title at the
Cattlemen's State Convention in Des Moines in January.
Soybean oil inkwill be making headlinesin the Mount Ayr Record-News and more than 100 Iowa newspapers next week.
The Iowa Soybean Promotion Board is conducting a series of soybean oil ink trials at 16 print centers throughout
the state, including Printcraft, Inc. in Lamoni, the weekof August 21.
Seven entries from Ringgold County 4-Hers qualified to the annual 4-H Ak-Sar-Ben horse shoe at the Union County
fairgrounds Saturday, August 5.
Hopes are high this fall for the Raiderette cross country squad, and not just because senior Laurel Moe's cast has come
off. Coach Ron Landphair welcomed back to practice Monday five letter winners from a team that finished sixth in district
last fall.
