Mushroom hunting has been in full swing in Ringgold county in the past few weeks and a very large one was brought to the Record-News office Friday. Karl McGAHUEY of Mount Ayr found a 12-inch long morrel mushroom while hunting in Ringgold county -- as close to a location as would be given. Mushroomhunters keep their prime hunting spots secret.

Ringgold County Farm BUreau president Richard DERSCHEID has made a pledge to eat more beef and is encouraging all consumers to do the same.

"In Iowa, we estimate that approximately 40,000 Farm Bureau members are involved in the beef industry as feeders or cow-calf operators," DERSCHEID said. "And, as grain producers, we have a stake in maintaing a viable beef industry in Iowa."
