Ada Crawford, a professional nurse, sailed Friday for France to assist in caring for the wounded soldiers.
A new barbershop has been opened in the B.B. Poor building, with C.S. King, of Sheridan, as manager.
H.C. Beard, of this city, member of the Iowa State Highway commission, has been exerting his influence toward getting for Ringgold County the first federal money to be used in improving the highways under
the law recently enacted by the legislature. Mr. Beard is responsible for starting the movement which has met with favorable action by the board of supervisors and which will result in securing $40,00 for use in making permanent improvements.
The Ringgold County Farmers Mutual Telephone company has elected a board of managers - John Irving, James Sheil and E. P. Johnson - which will have the power to transact all business for the company when not at a regular or called meeting for the company.

POE - Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thomas are the proud parents of a ten-pound son, born May 10.
