Art Allen of Tingley township was installed as president of the state 4-H boys' organization in a ceremony held Friday evening in conjunction with the annual State 4-H Conference in Ames, which was concluded Saturday.

A bolt of lightning, the effects of which were felt in a number of business houses and homes in Mount Ayr about 5:30 Wednesday evening of last week, struck the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Surface, located at 105 E. Monroe.
