Jeanette TODD of Maloy is a patient at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines and Kari DeLONG, age two, of Maloy is a patient at Blank Children's Hopital following a camper stove explosion Friday evening. TODD and DeLONG were transported to Greater Community Hospital in Creston then tranferred by LifeFlight to Des Moines.

Ringgold county recently settled a lawsuit over a level B road accident which occurred in 1994. Leonard D. WITT, father of Matthew A. WITT, a minor, and administrator of the estate of Suzanne WITT, deceased, brought suit against Ringgold county. The case was settled out of court April 29, 1997, when Ringgold county agreed to pay $75,000 to the plaintiff.

Paul WEIGELL, Sr. of Ellston found a morrel mushroom that was over nine inches long and weighed in a seven ounces.

A former Ringgold county resident is retiring from Southwestern Community College in Creston this month. Merlin WILKINS, and English and speech instructor at SWCC since 1983, retired Friday, May 9. WILKINS also served as chair of the Humanities department of the college for a time.

Tami TRULLINGER of Tingley has been accepted into the family of medical education initiative, or Project FaME, of the University of Ostepathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines. TRULLINGER is currently a student at Simpson College in Indianola.

Jennifer NEWTON of Mount Ayr will be honored by the Mercantile Bank, Atlantic Coca-Cola Bottling Company and WOI-TV a one of the top academically-ranked graduating seniors from over 100 central Iowa schools. The students were honored at Adventureland Park in Des Moines Saturday.

Zach GUNSOLLEY, a Diagonal junior, placed second in the Algebra II division at the Bluegrass conference math contest held in Seymour recently. GUNSOLLEY is the son of Frank and Joan GUNSOLLEY of Diagonal.

Jesse and Dana KELLY of Tingley lost their home and all of their belongings in a house fire on May 4. The KELLYS have two daughters, a two-year-old and an eight-month-old. Jesse is employed at Wellman in Creston and helps area farmers and Dana works at Place's Discount Store.
