The Mount Ayr Community Raiderettes remained atop the Pride of Iowa Conference softball standings last week, defeating
loop foes Interestate 35 and East Union. The Raiderettes are 3-0 in the Pride of Iowa, and faced conference co-leader,
Wayne Tuesday night.
A benefit is set Friday, June 16 at the American Legion in Mount Ayr for Alan PENNINGTON, great-grandson of Clarence
and Belle WILSON of Mount Ayr. PENNINGTON recieved a bone marrow transplant May 19 from his four-month-old sister
Amanda.
A unique Bible school brought an experience of a marketplace in 29 A.D. in Bible lands to the more than 60 youngsters in
Tingley who took part in a three-day experience. The idea was to help children enter the world of the Bible through
experiences that will help the Bible meaning be discovered.
Gary Lynn BAKER, son of Elmer and Mary Jo BAKER of Mount Ayr, has been named 1988-89 Dimmitt Scholar at Morningside
College in recognition of academic achievement.
Thirty-three years of exchanging letters will be enhanced by a personal visit for Connie BAILEY of Mount Ayr and
Valerie PORTER of Coventry, England. The two began writing to one another when they were in the seventh grade. When
PORTER and her husband arrive in Mount Ayr Saturday, June 17, for a four-day visit, the two women will have real, live
images of one another for the first time.
