Donald (Joe) Sobotka and C. W. (Bill) Horne were elected chief and assistant chief, respectively, of th Mount Ayr Volunteer Fire Department during the regular meeting of the organization held Wednesday evening of
last week. Sobotka, who served as assistant chief last year, succeeds John McGilvrey.
The Breckenridge store in Tingley was the target of another burglary late Sunday night or Monday morning. Merchandise valued at between $1,000 and $1,500 was taken by burglars who gained entrance to the building
by breaking open a rear door.
In district competition Friday, the Mount Ayr Raiders track team had four boys qualify for State outdoor track at Eagle Grove. Duane Miller qualified in the 100, 440 and broad jump; Dan Roe, the high hurdles; Ken Markley,
the low hurdles; and, Tom Kelly, the broad jump.
