The Iowa Grain Company of Mount Ayr announces the opening this week of a new bulk fertilizer blending plant. An
important feature of the plant is the construction of a modern office, from which the business of the plant will be
conducted. Clinton D. RICE, owner, has announced the appointment of Rex GALLOWAY as office manager and Dean BIERS as
manager of the plant.
The Ray Bluths were judged winners in the high school bowling league recently completed at Lucky Lanes in Mount Ayr.
They defeated the Steve Nagys in a playoff after the two teams had tied during the regular season. Member of the title-winning
team are Collus LAWHEAD, captain; Steve JOHNSTON and Jim PEDERSEN. Kenny MARKLEY, leaded of the Steve Naglys, was
assisted by Tom CARR and Cullen GEIST.
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse AKERS of Kellerton observed their golden wedding anniversary on March 4 in the Horton Nusing
Home, where he has been a patient since September 1962.
Neil STANLEY of Beaconsfield exhibited the champion market litter at the 11th annual Creston 4-H Spring Market Swine
Show held Saturday in Creston. STANLEY won with a uniform litter of 10 purebread, 180-day-old Berkshires, which
averaged 255 pounds. He also showed the fourth place medium-weight individual.
W. B. CUNNING of Mount Ayr was re-elected president of the Grundy-Shelby Experimental Farm Association during the
annual meeting of the organization held Thursday afternoon in the courthouse assembly room in Mount Ayr.
Two gold, one silver and four bronze ratings were awarded members of the Mount Ayr chapter of Future Farmers of America
at district contests held Saturday in Corydon. Adjudged winners of gold rating were the chapter program demonstration team
composed of Phillip DRAKE, James McCREARY and Jack GOODALE, projector operator, and the chapter reporter's scrapbook,
compiled by David UMBARGER, reporter, and Phillip DRAKE, assistant. Both winners are not eligible for state
competition.
The good citizens of Delphos community assisted Arlo DILLENBURG and family move February 24.
