Just in case Ringgold countians had forgotten what an Iowa winter can be like, the area was hit by a blizzard
Tuesday that cancelled classes at the schools in the county and generally slowed down the normal every day
activity. The lack of traffic on the square as well as poor visibility indicated something of the storm's fury.
It wasn't the amount of snow as much as the high winds that blew all day that caused problems. Drifting was a
problem Wednesday morning after the blowing of Tuesday.
Gate receipts of $725.50 have been placed in the Robert "Boze" WARD Memorial Fund as a result of the
good response to the benefit night of basketball Saturday. A crowd of over 800 persons attended the event
in the Mount Ayr Community high school gym and witnessed the double-header interspersed with junior
high games. The benefit was dedicated to the memory of WARD, who had served as the most recent president
of the sponsoring Boosters organization. WARD died in December, 1980.
