Newly elected officers of the Mount Ayr Community school's Parent-Teacher Association will be installed during a meeting of the organization to be held Wednesday night, Oct. 17. They are Mrs. Donald DAILEY, president; Mrs. Gerold WILLEY, vice-president; Mrs. Lawrence MINNICK, secretary, and R. E. HAUPTMANN, treasurer.

The residence property and two lots, owned and occupied by Mrs. W. MOORE since 1916, were sold Saturday at public auction to Loyd MICHAEL for $4,400. The sale was conducted by Dennis OWENS and Jack and Raymond HUTCHINSON, auctioneers, and Kermit MILLER, clerk.

The local chapter of Future Farmers of America is one of three Iowa Chapters representing the state in the national chapter program of work contest at the National F.F.A. Convention being held this week in Kansas City, MO. As a result of being selected one of the top three chapters in Iowa, the Mount Ayr chapter prepared the Iowa exhibit, which was taken Tuesday by three members, R. E. HAUPTMANN, advisor, and Mrs. HAUPTMANN to Kansas City, where it was placed on display in the Little Theatre of the Municipal Auditorium. David BARKER, Dennis CAMPBELL and Phillip DRAKE, of the local chapter, were selected to serve as members of the courtesy corps throughout the convention. The local chapter is represented by Joe BROWN, president; David BARKER, vice-president; Stephen LYNCH, secretary; Ronny WOOD, treasurer; Dennis CAMPBELL, reporter; Phillip DRAKE, sentinel, and the HAUPTMANS.

Two Mount Ayr business firms have made application for the lease of a large block of Peace River land in British Columbia, according to a recent announcement in the Peace River Block News. The two business interests are the McCullough Motor Company and the Iowa Grain Company.

Susie HUNT was crowned queen of the 1962 homecoming of the Mount Ayr Community high school during ceremonies held Friday night preceding the East Union-Mount Ayr football game. Miss HUNT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sanford HUNT of Redding, was crowned by Supt. C. Arthur HANSEN. Attendants of Miss HUNT were Linda CORLL, Jane KINNE, Karen McQUIGG and Carolyn REYNOLDS. The Raiders made it three straight as they earned a hard-fought, 24-0, homecoming game Friday night in Mount Ayr.
