David Alfred JENNINGS of Ellston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clark JENNINGS, and Harold Eugene BAKER of Kellerton, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. BAKER, Jr., entered the armed services.
Raymond F. BAKER, of the Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Co., Johnston, was honored recently for his "outstanding contribution to science" by the American Society of Agronomy during its national convention held in Columbus, Ohio.
Vincent R. GERINGER, instructor in the Mount Ayr Community High School, is participating in Drake University's in-service institute for science and mathematics, which will continue through January 22.
A coordinator and two assistant coordinators were selected by the executive board of directors of MATUA Corporation at meetings held October 20 and 27, in the offices of Arnold KENYON, of Crestonb. Joe PALS, of Orient, was selected as coordinator at an annual salary of $9,500 and Doyle DENHART, of Mount Ayr, and Blaine SHUPE, of Bedford, were named assistant coordiators at annual salaries of $7,200.
Earl STANLEY, of Kellerton, unopposed candidate, was elected a commissioner of the Ringgold County Soil Conservation District for a term of six years during a meeting held Monday evening in the agricultural building of the Mount Ayr Community School District.
