Ringgold county will have one of the new Iowa entry point signs which will welcome travelers entering Iowa. The signs
will feature the new theme and logo for Iowa tourism: "Iowa, You Make Me Smile." The new sign will be located
on Highway 169 in Ringgold county just north of the Missouri Border.
A Mount Ayr Community high school senior will be presenting her senior recital in Mount Ayr Sunday. Amy C. SHAFER,
daughter of Bob and Shelia SHAFER of Mount ayr, will present her concert at 3 p.m. in the Free Christian Church
in Mount Ayr. SHAFER is a piano student of Gerie Gail RAMSEY of Lamoni.
There were 163 persons who thrilled to the lively and touching war-theme song of World War II times; the style show
depicting military uniforms and wedding and street dresses worn by wives and girlfriends and a disply of other
pictures and memorabilia that were part of the May 7 "Hats off to the '40s" program. Ladies Unlimited presented the
event which was held Sunday afternoon at the Mount Ayr American Legion Hall. They received cooperation and donations
from 22 different businesses in the area. Special entertainment included "The Dance Connection," operated by Tracee
KNAPP; Jay and Pat MEESTER; the Dave HARDY family from Grant City, MO; and Martha LANDPHAIR, who headed the program
committee.
