Twenty-two Ringgold County 4-H and F.F.A. members will be showing livestock at the Iowa State Fair in progress at the
fairgrounds in Des Moines, August 16-27. Additional youth will be in fashion revue, clothing selection, communications
(working exhibit), educational presentations and taking leadership or service roles.
Mount Ayr Community high school just finished a decade of dominance for the softball team as the Raiderettes won five
Tall Corn Conference championships, a Pride of Iowa Conference Crown, eight sectional titles, and the 1982 regional
championship.
Diagonal - the Diagonal Maroons - finished with a record of 3-3 in The Great Diagonal Shoot Out July 29-30.
The Maroons defeated Fairbank Wapsie Valley, Elk Horn-Kimbalton and Hedrick, and lost to Atlantic, Pomeroy-Palmer
and Washington.
A cast of 20 vocalists and 16 instrumentalists, the 1989 Iowa State Fair Singers and Jazz Band, thrilled the near-capacity
crowd at Mount Ayr Community High School and auditorium in a Wednesday, August 2, one and one-half-hour-long performance.
