Patrons of the schools in Ringgold county will go to the polls Monday, September 11, to elect two members of the Ringgold
County Board of Education and directors in the Mount Ayr Community school district, the Grand Valley Community school
district and the Diagonal Community school district. The terms of Lloyd GOINS, Area No.2, and Robert BECK, Area No. 4,
members of the county board, will expire. Successors will be elected for terms of six years each. Other members of the
county board are John D. WARIN, James MOON and Carl RIGGS.The terms of Emeral WHEELEN, Director District No. 3, and Harold
COMBS, Director District No. 4, will expire in the Mount Ayr Community school district. Other members of the board are
Milton HENDERSON, District No. 4, Loren IBBOTSON, District No. 1, and Norman KLEJCH, director at large.
In the
Grand Valley Community school district, the terms of Norman ELSWICK, Lamoni, and Roy JONES, Grand River, are expiring.
Other Grand Valley members are John Van LAAR, Grand River, John GROSE, Ellston, and Dean JACKSON, Kellerton.
Only one director is to be elected in the Diagonal Community school district to succeed E. M. WATSON.
Other board members are Raymond MINNICK, Robert BENTLEY, Francis ROUTH and Lee ROUTH.
Emmet R. WARIN, local attorney,has been appointed government appeal agent for Local Board 1381 (Selective Service), of
Ringgold county.
Herman FREEL of Humeston has been employed as superintendent of the Diagonal Community school for the 1961-62 term.
Triplet calves -- all heifers and coal black -- were born July 24 to a three year-old Angus cow on the Marion CREVELING
farm two miles south of Ellston. Triplets in the cow family occur only once in 10,000 births, according to Len R. BEATH,
county extension associate.
A Missouri youth, who recently attended the Southwest Iowa Bible Camp west of Diagonal, was stricken by an ailment which
was later diagnosed as polio. He is John Calvin HUMPHREY, 15, of Iberia, MO, who was taken July 29 to the Ringgold
County Hospital and the following day was transferred to a Tuscumbia, MO hospital.
Sheriff and Mrs. Elbert STRANGE have sold their home in Diagonal and are moving this week to Mount Ayr, where both are
employed. For the present they will reside in a trailer house on the Franklin SMITH residence lots on North Taylor Street.
Mrs. Clarence DAILEY of Mount Ayr was killed and her husband seriously injured Tuesday in a car-truck collision, which
happened at the north edge of Lindsborg, KS. Mr. DAILEY, driver of the car, is hospitalized in Lindsborg but the full
extent of his injuries has not been determined. Survivors included Mr. DAILEY; two sons, George, of Diagonal and John
of Cosby, MO; two daughters, Julia (Mrs. Ellis MAUDLIN) of Mount Ayr and Mary of Omaha, NE and her father, Albert PAGE
of Mount Ayr.

August 5, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. O. E. RANDLE, Sheridan MO
August 5, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Christopher SPAINHOWER, Grant City MO
