The Mount Ayr Raiders football team opens their season against the Leon squad on Friday, September 10. The team is coached by Maury GEIST. Thirty-one boys are playing on the Mount Ayr squad.

S. C. STANLEY completes thirty years of service at the Iowa State Fair.

The demonstration team won a blue ribbon at the Iowa State Fair. Melvin GRAY and Max BUCKNER of the Atom Boys 4-H club proved to the judge that they knew their business in artificial respiration and first aid. Melvin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis GRAY and Max's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Alfred BUCKNER.

Larry CAMPBELL and Lyman WALKER, demonstrating on "Properly Taking Soil Samples," were awarded a red ribbon.

Sue RICHARDS and Jenesse OVERHOLTZER, of the Tingley Topperettes, won a blue ribbon in the nutrition contest with their demonstration entitled, "It's Better Than You Think," showing appetizing ways to include liver in the family diet.

Barrie PARKS and Barbara CAVENDER, of the Maloy Colleens, won their blue ribbon in the Special Activity division with a demonstration on home pasteurization of milk entitled, "Improving on Nature's Most Perfect Food."

J. W. TRIGGS & Son, of Liberty township, breeders of purebred boars and sows, exhibited two champions last week at the Iowa State Fair.

Cynthia WHEELOCK will report to the American Legion Auxiliary on her trip to Girls State.

Three hundred people attended the "Old Timers" reunion at Benton. Will KLING, of Mount Ayr, who is 96 years young, had the distinction of being the oldest "old timer" in attendance.

The Ringgold County grain judging team, coached by Robert McCREARY, won second place in the state judging contest held last week at the Iowa State Fair.

Mr.and Mrs. Oscar ROBERTS, of Kellerton, will observe their 50th anniversary on Sunday, September 12.
