Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr
A former Mount Ayr resident and most recently a Creston police officer, Rudy SAVILLE, 47, was found dead Tuesday
night, Jan. 31, in Mount Ayr's Rose Hill Cemetery. Cause of death was from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according
to Ringgold County medical examiner, Dr. Duane E. MITCHELL. Ringgold County deputy sheriff, Bob BENNETT, and Sheriff
Lyle MINNICK were dispatched to the scene, at SAVILLE'S father's grave in the south part of the cemetery, by a
6:58 p.m. call. Officers felt they had arrived very soon after the incident had happened.
Six letters from the late Milt HENDERSON to a former vocational agriculture student of his at Mount Ayr high school,
Loren ELLIOTT now of Mesa, AZ, brought back memories of the World War II era when shared with HENDERSON'S widow,
Marion HENDERSON of Mount Ayr. ELLIOTT had kept HENDERSON'S letters all these years and rediscovered them when going through
som old papers recently. Knowing that they could prove especially meaningful to Marion and the couple's children and
grandchildren, ELLIOTT sent them to her after rereading them. The "voice from the past" told of life in the military
during World War II after HENDERSON had enlisted following completion of the school year in 1942.
