John D. WARIN of Maloy was re-elected president of the Ringgold County Fair Association at the annual meeting
held Monday. W. T. TIMBY of Mount Ayr was re-elected secretary and John TRIGGS of Washington Township was
elected vice president. Mr. TRIGGS succeeds John IRVING.
Four members of the board of directors of Rideta Electric Cooperative and two employees were honored for longtime service
at a service recognition award dinner and party Wednesday night of last week in the R.N.A. Hall in Mount Ayr. Directors
honored were C. C. BRIMMER, president; Fred STRANGE, vice president; and John IRVING, secretary-treasurer, charter members
with 20 years of service, and L. W. MICKELSON, a director for 18 years. Line foreman Lyle NICHOLS was presented a two-piece
matched set of "Royal Traveler" luggage in recognition of 15 years of service. As an award for 10 years of service
with the company, Everett REYNOLDS, truck and boom operator, received a Sheaffer pen and pencil set.
Officers of the Mount Ayr Chapter No. 356, Order of the Eastern Star, who will serve during the ensuing year, were
elected during a meeting of that fraternal organization held Monday night. They include Mrs. Jack ELLIOTT, worthy matron;
Jack ELLIOTT, worthy patron; Mrs. Bill RUSK, associate matron; Raymond BARKER, associate patron; Mrs. John McGILVREY,
secretary; Mrs. Roy LEPLEY, treasurer; Mrs. Billie FINCH, conductress; and, Mrs. C. W. HORNE, associate conductress.
The Mount Ayr Rebel Raiders successfully opened their 1960-61 basketball season December 2, by defeating Lenox in two
games on the Tigers' court. The Rebels scored freely and consistently as they won the B team game, 29-6, and the A
team won 40-18. Gary MAIN was high scorer for the B team with 10 points. Danny COULSON helped the Rebel cause with his
control of the boards.
R. E. HAUPTMANN, who is serving his 19th year as vocational agriculture instructor in the local high school, has received
a citation for leadership from the American Vocational Association.
