Kathleen FREED and her sister, Barbara SEIFFERT, of rural Redding followed the Iowa Hawkeyes all the way to Anchorage,
AK to see them in the Great Alaska Shoot-out tournament held Nov. 22-25 in Sullivan Arena. Both are retired and decided
if they were ever going to do something like that, the time was now. They named Barbara as the real "sports nut" but
Kathleen, described as a staunch Iowa fan, was the one who pushed them into making specific plans to go to
Anchorage, Nov. 21 through Nov. 26. Both women belong to the "I Club" and they joined a tour group of 124 people, mostly
University of Iowa alumni, in Seattle WA to go on to Anchorage for the big tournament. The two were part of a group
who left from Des Moines airport. They had tickets for all games of the eight-team tournament but admit to missing
two in an attempt to be rested enough to cheer Iowa on to victory.
