[The] Showroom and office of Smith Motor of Mound Ayr were destroyed by fire Monday morning. James Smith, who has owned and operated the Rambler garage for 10 years, said Tuesday that estimated damage
to building and parts will exceed $10,000.
Janis Hunt, of Grant City MO, is a patient in the Ringgold County Hospital, convalescing from bruises and shock suffered when she was beaten Friday by two men in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Hunt.
Plans were revealed this week for the construction of a transit mix batching plant in Mount Ayr. Bud Bentley, manager of Country Boys' Lumber and Concrete, said he expects to have the plant in operation in about six
weeks at the site at Columbus and Pierce Streets, north of the county sand bins.
