A 16-year-old Mount Ayr youth appeared Saturday in juvenile court in Mount Ayr and before Judge Thomas Brown pleaded guilty to charges of breaking and entering the Novak Sales and Service, Mount Ayr Roller Rink and West End Service Station. The youth, who was on probation after being convicted of larceny, was sentenced to the Training School for Boys in Eldora until he is 21 years of age. Arrested Monday as an accomplice in the break-ins by Sheriff Strange, was a 15-year-old youth from Des Moines. He was brought from Des Moines to Mount Ayr, where he was questioned by authorities and admitted he part in the robberies. Pending trial in juvenile court, the youth was released in the custody of his parents.

This year's candidates for homecoming queen are Diane Dailey, Anita Dredge, Marla Kay Euritt, Alice Minnick and Patti Stull, all seniors in the Mount Ayr Community High School

As one of their community service projects, the Thespians presented "What Fools These Mortals Be!" Thursday night to the residents of the Clearview Home.

The Raiders cross country team traveled Monday to Lamoni, where it defeated a more experienced Lamoni squad 10 to 22.

Fire of unknown origin caused thousands of dollars of dammage Tuesday afternoon to the building and equipment on the Kenneth Quick Farm, three miles east of Redding.

Three Mount Ayr youths - Mike Duckworth, Rudy Saville and Allan Kinney - escaped serious injury in a one-car accident which happened Saturday morning about 12:40 in east Mount Ayr. The car, a 1966 Chevelle, owned and operated by Duckworth, went out of control east of the Prentis Hatchery, knocked over a stop sign, hit a cement abutment, carreened over a railroad track which crosses the street, and landed on its top against a car registered to Gary Mozingo, art instructor in the Mount Ayr schools, who resides in the Thompson apartments northeast of the tracks. The youths were admitted to the Ringgold County Hospital for treatment of lacerations and contusions where they remained under observation until Sunday.
