Mrs. Frank HORNE of Mount Ayr was elected as the new county 4-H girls chairman by the 4-H leaders at their fall
organization meeting held Monday afternoon in the courthouse assembly room. She succeeds Mrs. Donald BUTT of Diagonal
who is retiring from the 4-H committee this year. Mrs. Ralph RES of Mount Ayr is also completing her tenure as a
committee member. Both have given several years of faithful service to 4-H.
Andrew H. JOHNSON of Newell, who recently purchased the long-established CARR Chevrolet Company in Mount Ayr,
was given possession Monday of this week. The business will operate under the firm name of the JOHNSON-CARR
Chevrolet Company. Mr. JOHNSON says all the employees will be retained and that the policy of the company
will substantially the same as in the past. Mr. JOHNSON is married and has three children, Pamela, 12;
Mark, eight, and Scott, two. They reside in the McCULLOUGH property at 204 Cass Street in northwest Mount Ayr.
