Word was received Tuesday of the death of Clinton "Whitey" RICE, 60, a fomer Mount Ayr resident who still has business
interests in Ringgold County. RICE was killed Tuesday in a traffic accident near his home in East Pine, British Columbia,
Canada. RICE was driving a pickup truck when it collided with a transport truck. Services will be held in Mount Ayr and
were pending at press time.
Kevin PULLIAM, a Mount Ayr Community high school junior, will be part of the 34th annual Iowa all-state music festival
the weekend of Nov. 14-15. This is his second year of participation. He was one of 6,399 of Iowa's finest high
school musicians who were present at the audition held at six different sites Oct. 25. He auditioned at Audubon.
Ringgold County Sheriff Elbert STRANGE arrived back in Mount Ayr Friday afternoon with Charles Lloyd TYLER, 34, a suspect
in the murder of Alberta MICKAEL of Mount Ayr. Bond for TYLER was set at $1 million and he was taken to the Union County
jail in Creston to await trial. As of press time, no attorney had been named for TYLER who faces a charge of first degree
murder.
An accident injured Keith SACKETT while he was working on a grain auger at his farm seven miles south of Mount Ayr Oct.
25. The auger was believed to have collapsed on him, pinning him underneath.
Mrs. Murray SHAHA suffered a broken vertebrae in a fall onto a cement floor at her Mount Ayr home Oct. 25. She was on a ladder
when she fell flat on her back. She was taken to Ringgold County Hospital for examination and then transferred by
LifeFlight helicopter to Des Moines.
