Kenny HEBENSPERGER, 67, of Mount Ayr, received a heart transplant Monday, June 3, after a long wait. As of Tuesday,
June 4, he has been reported in "serious condition" at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, where surgery took

A smoke alarm that was in working order and quick thinking by Kory KLOMMHAUS probably saved the lives of KLOMMHAUS
and his wife Debbie, when an early Sunday morning, June 2, fire completely destroyed the farmhouse they were renting
from Debbie's father, Lyle FARIS. It was a fire alarm going off about 3:30 a.m. that awakened the couple and alerted
them to smoke which has engulfed the downstairs of the two-story, eight-room house located approximately seven miles
south of Mount Ayr on Highway 169 and back east one-half mile on P-55.
A former Kellerton resident has been assigned to a new United Methodist Church assignment. The Rev. Raymond E. DOSER
of Zearing has been appointed pastor of the Bussey and Hamilton United Methodist Churches effective June 30. DOSER is
currently pastor of the Bethel United Church in Zearing and the McCallsburg Presbyterian Church where he has served
for the past five year. A native of Kellerton, DOSER is a graduate of the Clinton Community College in Clinton. He
and his wife, Dola Mae, are parents of two grown children and Renee, 15.
