Fire, which started from a defective flue, caused extensive damage Sunday night to the attic and roof of the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie RINEHART on North Hayes Street in Mount Ayr. While the blaze was confined to the roof
and attic, the first and second floors and some furnishings were damaged by water.
Mrs. Dwaine MORGAN of Mount Ayr, an agent for the Life Investors Insurance Company of America, has been presented
a gold watch for having qualified as a member of the company's App-A-Week Club. Also honored at the company's annual
meeting held recently in Cedar Rapids, is Leo HACKER, of this city, general agent, who was awarded Life Investors
$2,500,000 agency trophy.
Doyle SCOTT of Mount Ayr announced in this issue of the Record-News his candidacy for the office of sheriff
of Ringgold county, subject to the will of the Republican votes at the primary election to be held Monday, June
1. Mr. SCOTT, who is 53 years of age, was engaged in the feed and produce business in this city for a period of
15 years, during which time he made many friends throughout the county.
Five seniors of the Mount Ayr Community high school will be playing their last home game Friday night when the Raiders
basketball teams meet the Bedford Bulldogs. The quintet will compose the starting line-up. they are Phil Gerard,
Rich Defenbaugh, Don Gepner, Joe Brown and Alan Taylor.
