Milton M. HENDERSON, of this city and cooperative extension area 4-H agent in southwestern Iowa, was one of seven
4-H agents awarded distinguished service citations during the National Association of County 4-H Club Agents annual
awards banquet in Madison, WI. A former vocational agriculture instructor and county extension director, HENDERSON
was first appointed area extension 4-H agent in 1949.
For the second consecutive year, a vocal quartet from Grand Valley School has qualified for competition in the All-State
Music Festival, to be held during the Thanksgiving holidays in Des Moines. Members of the quartet are Marge PAYTON,
senior, soprano; Janie SISSEL, senior, alto; Tom DRAKE, sophomore, tenor, and Larry HUSS, senior, bass.
STUDENT AYR -- 39 Future Homemakers of America attended a district convention October 24 in Clarinda, accompanied
by Sue HENRY, sponsor, and the chapter mothers, Mrs. Lucille MULLENAX and Mrs. Claire FOLTZ. Diane BURGE, Barbara
SEFRIT, Suzanne DENNIS and Mary Lou MULLENAX sang in the district chorus and
Dianne RICHARDS, acting district recreation officer, led the group in several mixes. Among the new officers installed
is Nanci FOLTZ, who holds the position of district historian.
DELPHOS -- Mr. and Mrs. W.D. CAVENDER of Omaha, NE, who recently bought property in Delphos, moved their
household furnishings here Wednesday.
BENTON -- Mr. and Mrs. Bill TIDLE announce the arrival of a granddaughter, Rhonda Elaine, on October 27 in the
Greater Community Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. William TIDLE of Oreint. She is also welcomed by a sister, Deanna, a brother,
William Jr., and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard WILSON.
