The Ringgold County Sheriff's Department has taken on a new look this week with two new deputies beginning their duties.
Robert BENNETT of rural Mount Ayr and Kevin CAMPBELL of Kellerton started work as deputies of Ringgold county sheriff

Grand Valley's
Tiger basketball team fell short of the district Class A basketball title in the championship matchup in Creston Tuesday
night. The loss for Grand Valley and the win by Stanton gave both teams identical 19-4 records. Stanton continues on to
the sub-state game with Treynor for a chance to go to the state tournament in a match upset at Shenandoah Saturday.
Hawkeye Bank & Trust in Mount Ayr will have a new president and chief executive officer effective Friday, March 6. Roger
KERNDT, president and CEO of the bank for the past three and one-half years, has resigned effective March 6 to become
president of the Dairyman's State Bank in Randolph, WI, the bank announced this week. Named to replace him will be Gene
POPPE, currently senior vice-president of the bank here.
Tom GOLLIDAY of Mount Ayr was honored for 40 years of service
with the telephone company in Mount Ayr at a dinner February 19. GOLLIDAY started to work February 1, 1947 for Ringgold
County Mutual Telephone Company in Mount Ayr as a combination person. He is presently employed as a telephone service
technician with Contel in Mount Ayr.
Mount Ayr Community Raider wrestler Kevin O'MAILIA wrestled in the state tournament
in Des Moines last week, representing the school in the 167-pound class. O'MAILIA finished the season with a 16-11 record.
