The Mount Ayr Roller Rink, owned by Doris BARKER, Lloyd GLENDENNING and Sam L. OSBORN for two years, was sold Saturday to two brothers, Gary McCULLOUGH and Donald
STRAIGHT. Immediate possession was given.
Mrs. Burl CUNNING assumed her duties as a member of the board of trustees of the Mount Ayr Public Library during the regular meeting of the board held Tuesday night. Mrs. CUNNING was elected to the position at a meeting of the trustees on October 5, and recommended to the city council for its approval and her subsequent appointment.
The world famous Texas Cow Girls have been scheduled for an appearance on November 10 in Kellerton. Sponsor of the group, which will be seen in action in the high school gymnasium beginning at 8 o'clock, is the Kellerton Lions Club. TRANSCRIBER'S NOTE: The Texas Cowgirls Professional Basketball Team barnstormed throughout the country from the 1940's through the 1970's. Most of the girls joined the Cowgirl team right out of high school upon recommendation of their coaches. A few were found through scouts. The girls ranged in age from 19 to 24 years. Traveling in a station wagon, the team normally cover about 70,000 miles per season, playing every night and sometimes twice on a Sunday, about 150 games. The team played men's rules. The team sometimes toured with the Harlem Globetrotters.
The Mount Ayr Community High School Raiders band will conclude its busy season with a "Sports-Spectacular" show tomorrow (Friday) night at the half-time period of the Creston-Raiders football game.
