Kasey Dredge, Mount Ayr Record-News

Paul EASON of Washington township, was re-elected chairman of the county ASC committee during the annual convention of community committee delegates held Saturday morning. Also re-elected are Lawrence SWANK of Athens township, vice-chairman, and Marshall BARKER of Poe township member.

Dick YAsHACK of Diagonal, and a member of the Mount Ayr Golf and Country Club, won the annual city golf tournament played Sunday on the local course. YASHACK shot 109, one over par for 27 holes, with rounds of 36-37-36. Runner-up was Royce DAVIS with round of 38-39-35, for a 112 total. His 35 was the best round of the day. Kenny MARKLEY, high school golfer, won third place honors with 113, and another young golfer, John McFARLAND, tied with Dr. M. T. GORDON of Clearfield for fourth place with a total score of 114. K. B. WILSON shot 115 and Bill MONAGHAN, defending champion, and Collus LAWHEAD ended with scores of 116.

Doris ANGUS, a member of the Clover Belles, and Art ALLEN, of the Tingley Toppers, were elected presidents of the girls and boys 4-H Clubs during the annual Ringgold County 4-H Conference held Monday night. Miss ANGUS is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd ANGUS, and Art is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave ALLEN.

Others elected to office were Ruth NELSON, Jolly Jinglers, and Craig ELLIOTT, Benton Bearcats, vice-presidents; Virgene RYAN, Liberty Belles, and Jim McCREARY, Junior Farmers, secretaries; and Marla LIND, Jolly Jinglers, and Dan COULSON, Caldeonia Future Farmers, historians.

During the Conference, Mrs. Elmer HIGHTSHOE, leader of the Riley Blue Belles, and J. N. CHICKEN, county extension director, were initiated as honorary members.

  • a son to Mr. and Mrs. Robert FLANDERS
