Five young men were sent yesterday to Des Moines for physicals by Ringgold County Local Board No. 13-81 Selective Service System. They are Ronald Carl LOOMIS, Harold Eugene BAKER, David Alfred JENNINGS, Keith Emery ADAMS and Timothy E. BECKER.

Schools opened Wednesday of last week in the six centers of the Mount Ayr Community School District with a total enrollment of 1,135, a decrease of 79 students over the preceding year.

Members of the Mount Ayr Chapter of Future Farmers of Amercia, Craig ELLIOTT, Keith BASTOW, Johnny HERREN and Jim McCREARY, are to be commended on the placings won on their livestock exhibited this year at the Iowa State Fair.

Miles W. TURNBULL has been named advertising sales promotion manager of Successful Farming magazine, a publication of Meredith Publishing Company, Des Moines.
