Fire, caused by a defective control, destroyed the clothes in a clothes dryer in the Otto SOBOTKA home in Diagonal
on Monday of last week, according to John SHAFER, who is serving his first year as adjuster for the Ringgold
Mutual Insurance Association.
A redecoration and repair program is in progress at the federal building in Mount Ayr. The work is under contract to
Ray NEWSOM, representative of the U.S. Improvment Company, in the amount of $2,818. Postmaster Marion E. EURITT
said the work is to be completed within 60 days from the date of the awarding of the contract.
The Lee MILLSAP farm of 96 acres, three miles west of Kellerton, was sold Tuesday at public auction to the
ROUDYBUSH brothers, Burl of Muscatine and Earl, of Kellerton, for $93.50 per acre. The sale was conducted by the
Carl G. RIGGS Land Auction Company of Tingley. Auctioneers were Dennis OWENS of Tingley and Elton PRIEST of
Kellerton. The Tingley State Savings Bank served as clerk.
