Ada ROGERS announced in this week's issue of the Record-News her candidacy for the Republican nomination for
treasurer of Ringgold county at the primary election, June 4.
The Johnson-Carr Chevrolet Company's women's bowling team,'composed of Pat JOHNSON, Roena ADAMS, Mary GUNTER, Betty
SNETHEN and Bea ROE, of Mount Ayr, won first place in the Grant City, MO women's city tournament, the finals of which
were an event of February 16. Mrs. JOHNSON also won first in the women's all-events with a scratch total of 1,411 pins.
Raymond FROST, 56-year-old farm owner and operator, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for member of
the board of supervisors of Ringgold county, term commencing January 1963. Mr. and Mrs. FROST are the parents of two
sons, Harold, who farms east of Beaconsfield, and Dean, who is employed at Dugan's Conoco station in Mount Ayr.
Wayne A. OVERHOLTZER, rural letter carrier of Tingley, retired after 37 years of service. He has used 37 motorized
vehicles (28 of them new cars), 10 head of horses, two sleighs, two two-wheeled carts and two buggies. He recalled
enduring his greatest hardships during the heavy snow and severely cold winter of 1936.
Announcement of the candidacy of Dick BARNES for the Republican nomination for member of the board of supervisors, term
commencing January 1963 was made this week.
C. Arthur HANSEN, superintendent of schools in the Mount Ayr Community school district, was offered a three-year contract
Friday night by the board of education. The contract provides for an increase in salary from $9,200 to $9,350 for the
first year with successive increases of $150 per year.
Formal announcement of the candidacy of Ernest BASTOW for the Republican nomination for member of the board of
supervisors, term commencing January 1964 was made. Mr. BASTOW is serving his second year of a third term a member of
the board and is presently chairman.
Formal announcement of the
candidacy of Norma SMITH for the Republican nomination for county treasurer was made.
