U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Luria L. Staats graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, TX.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Staats is the daughter of Fred and Janell Staats of Ellston. She is also the granddaughter of Larry and Reta Freihage of Ellston, and Robert Staats of Creston.

The airman graduated in 2011 from Mount Ayr Community High School and earned an associate degree in 2013 from Southwestern Community College in Creston.
