MICHAEL SHEIL
Michael SHEIL entered into the U.S. Air Force on February 1, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa. He went to Lackland Air Force Base
in Texas for his initial basic training and Lowr Air Force Base, Denver, Colorado for his technical training as a photo
interpretation specialist training at Lowry Air Force Base, Denver, Colorado.
Throughout his 22-year career overseas, Michael's assignments included both full and temporary duty tours in
Germany, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Hawaii, and the Philippines. Michael was awarded the Meditorious Service Medal,
six Air Force commendation medals, the Arm and Air Force Good Conduct Medals, the Vietnam Service Medal with two
combat stars, the German Occupation Medal and the Expert Marksman Medal. Michael received one of his Air Force
commendation medals from the hands of Undersecretary of the Air Force, Dr. COOK, during a ceremony attended by his
wife and children at the Pentagon, pictured above.
